Meet the artists.

  • Tim B. Moore is a local artist from Anderson. A gifted athlete, he went to Chico State where he was able to combine his love for art, pop culture, music and radio, working with KCSC, the college radio station. Graduating with his BA in Information and Communication Studies, he has since worked in the media arts and radio his entire career. Currently he hosts his own morning show for 106.7 ZRock and is a local media personality, previously winning the Chico News and Review Best of Chico DJ award.

Beginning his artistic journey as a child, he started showing in 2018. His style is abstract using asemic writing, stemming from his obsession with consciousness and abstracting reality through words, marks, art, music and rhythm. He has a particular fondness of antique books, vintage parchment, visual symbols, written foreign alphabets and physical textures which he brings to his work.

  • Caryn Crago has spent her life working in the medical field. She retired and took a glassblowing class at Shasta College. She soon became addicted to all forms of glass; the flame, the colors, the fragility and the danger. She now does lampworking in her garage, and shares her love with others.

  • Celeste Draisner is a local artist and conservationist.  She was born in Alexandria, Virginia and grew up here on the west coast.  She studied oil painting, sculpture and design at The Art Students League of New York in 1984, 1987.

She has travelled to and found inspiration from museums around the world, including the British Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris, the Vatican in Rome, and even the island of Murano in Venice.

Recently, she graduated from Shasta College with an A.S. in diesel and industrial technology.

Currently, she is learning to craft glass from her lamp working teacher in Palo Cedro, Cairyn Crago.

Celeste loves Redding and finds Northern California an amazing place to live.

  • Michaela is the content creator, graphic designer, and community liaison for SCAC’s day to day and large scale events. As a life-long creative, she has spent years working in many different artistic fields, but her first and dearest love is live theatre. Through acting, directing, and creative design, Michaela has honed her skills as an excellent communicator, a detailed artist, and an enduring scholar.

  • Aaron Heister is a local artist born in Redding. He has been studying various mediums for decades now and has produced many pieces in glass, bronze, ceramics, and assemblage sculpture. His focus has been on recycling and upcycling materials as much as possible with the emphasis on creating something beautiful out of discarded items.

  • Born in Barcelona, Spain, Karlo Henry currently lives in Redding, California.

After graduating with a degree in Electronic Engineering he pursued a degree in Art History continuing his art education at The Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM), Instituto de Bellas Artes de Querétaro (INBA) and University of Texas in Arlington (UTA).

His works began as collages influenced by religious art and artists like Miro and Velazquez, and later evolved into depictions of hearts influenced by popular Spanish surrealists like Dolores Varo and Salvador Dali mixed with Mexican folklore and painters like Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

In the 2000s, he was part of the emerging underground art scene in Dallas-Fort Worth which gave him the opportunity to be part of a collective, help create new venues, curate shows and sell his works overseas.

His latest works are very illustrative, combining his love of ’70s and ’80s animation, fashion and the Pop movement of American culture. The subjects in his paintings and his use of color give his works a funny, lighthearted air. But if you look closer, you could find a commentary about gender and the importance of staying close to your inner child.

In 2018, he founded The Art Hunger, an organization to promote local artists and cultural events in the North State.

  • Born and raised in the PNW, Elevia Ramirez is a multidisciplinary artist creating in Northern California. She has expressed herself as a painter, photographer, jeweler, fashion designer, florist, sculptor, metalsmith, and writer. She spends her time growing in artistry, seeking inspiration in her surroundings, and helping others find who they are creatively. Her work has been privately collected and shown in exhibitions throughout Oregon and California.

  • My artistic style incorporates my love of nature using bright bold colors of landscapes paired with zen- like trees and dynamic fish and birds. My art uses circular looping shapes, paired with sharp geometric edges to convey the connection between the organic shapes of nature and the contrasting geometry of human influence. In 2018 I had the privilege to be involved in a mural festival and was introduced to a new medium of spray paint and painting words. This new medium challenged me and gave me the idea of incorporating words into my art. I like to add words to depict a story that the viewer might not know about. I also think that adding words can give another dimensionality and playfulness to art.

  • Caryn is an award-winning artist who started out many years ago as an art major in college. Life took her elsewhere but she eventually returned to art and resumed her education at Sacramento City College and American River College along with an assortment of workshops, classes and life drawing groups.

Caryn’ shows her work in a variety of venues including The Carter House Gallery and City Hall in Redding, Highland Art Center and Main Street Gallery in Weaverville. This year she had a solo exhibit at Redding Regional Airport and had one of her pieces included in the West Coast Biennial Art Exhibition at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding.

  • Molly Watson grew up from high school in Redding and joined the US Air Force after a year at Shasta College. She served for 11 1/2 years on active duty in a variety of locations, to include nearly 5 years in Japan. She is married to another Air Force veteran and they have three awesome young adult sons. Her husbands final assignment before his military retirement led their family to Germany where they lived over 3 years and were so lucky to travel all around Europe.

Molly has always been inspired to be doing something creative and she loves many hobbies such as painting, sewing, photography and gardening {to name just a few!}. She admits raising her sons always came first while her creative tools and ideas sat unused and untapped at times. All the while, she was gathering things to try when she would have the time.

Recently, as a “two thirds empty nester”, she is focusing her newfound time and attention on all things creative. She loves the opportunity to learn and be inspired by others and the world around her. Her recent work includes all original photography with digital edits and original ideas and words. She loves expressing thoughts and life experiences with colorful images that might relate to others.
