Old City Hall

Shasta County Arts Council acts as steward of the historic Old City Hall Arts Center, located in vibrant Downtown Redding. This versatile venue is perfect for concerts, receptions, conferences, and more.

Pricing

  • There is an application processing fee of $25. This amount in non-refundable.

  • A refundable security deposit of $350 will be held for potential damages to the building and equipment.

  • The performance hall may be rented for $400 for a half day (up to four hours) or $650 for a full day (up to eight hours.)

  • If you would like to include lighting beyond the ambient light in the hall, a fee of $100 for a half day or $200 for a full day will be incurred.

  • Microphones, monitors, speakers, etc. may be added to your rental for $100 (half day) or $200 (full day)

  • Our facility manager is required to be present at any use of the facility where the public is present. He is responsible for the safety of the public, the coordination of the event, operation of all equipment, security of the building and overseeing clean-up of the Facility.

    Fee may run between $150 and $250, depending on hours of service.

  • A Yamaha Grand Piano is available for use and is tuned once a month. Additional tuning is $150 paid directly to tuner, and will require four weeks of advance notice.

Amenities

  • Ballroom

    Old City Hall’s ballroom is perfect for intimate concerts, recitals, corporate events, and more. The ballroom offers modern amenities such as stage and lighting equipment, a television and digital projector for presentations, a Yamaha grand piano, and much more. The Ballroom can comfortably seat 110 guests. The maximum standing capacity is 165 guests.

  • Courtyard

    The courtyard, affectionately known by SCAC staff as the Pocket Park, is an intimate gathering space located right next door to Old City Hall. It’s perfect for cocktail parties, art pop ups, classes and workshops, and more. With lush greenery and brand new string lights hung by The Art Hunger’s Karlo Henry and Mario Montalvo, the courtyard is a hidden gem in the heart of Downtown Redding.

  • Gallery

    Our art gallery offers meticulously curated shows throughout the year. Both professional and emerging artists are encouraged to submit their work to be shown. This upscale space can also host small receptions and meetings, and is a highlight of our monthly “First Friday” offerings. The standing capacity of the gallery is 100, and seated is 75.

  • Kitchen

    Old City Hall offers a small kitchenette for food prep and storage, complete with refrigerator, dishwasher, ample counter space, and large sink. This kitchen also houses an original jail cell from the building’s former use as Redding’s City Hall. The kitchen and classroom are connected, and have a total standing capacity of 30 and a seated capacity of 20.

  • Classroom

    Adjoined to the kitchen is a multipurpose area perfect for teaching small groups. This space includes tables and chairs, surrounding counter space, natural light from an abundance of windows, and drying racks for art projects. The classroom can also be used for meetings. Its capacity is the same as the kitchen’s, with space for 30 to stand or 20 to sit.
