Education, Support, and Practice

Shasta County Arts Council champions accessibility and diversity in the arts community of rural Northern California. Through the design, planning, and organization of a broad range of art activities, events, educational outreach programs, and supportive opportunities for our artists and community, the SCAC mission is to provide avenues for social exchange that promote learning and cultural understanding.

By artists, for artists.

The Shasta County Arts Council team is dedicated to the growth and prosperity of the arts community because they are the arts community. With a board and in-house staff with expertise in a variety of mediums, SCAC is prepared to champion North State artists with the a unique understanding of the challenges and triumphs they experience.

Meet the board.

Meet the staff.

We are committed to invigorating the arts in our local and regional community through education, support, and practice. We accomplish that by providing the space, the resources, and the opportunities to facilitate the arts.

We envision a community that encourages, strengthens, creates, and grows together—where, together, artists and performers engage their audiences through story, painting, song, enactment, or other form of creative expression.

What we do

Education

Shasta County Arts Council curates classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels in many areas of artistic expression. Whether you’re a beginning painter or a seasoned performer, SCAC offers education for everyone.

Support

SCAC provides a platform for local professional and emerging artists to display and sell their work in our Old City Hall gallery and pop up shows throughout the year. We also act as a fiscal sponsor for arts start-ups on their way to becoming independent not-for-profit organizations.

Practice

SCAC applies its belief in a community that creates together through the hosting of arts events, the push for public art, and the sharing of arts opportunities and affairs in weekly email newsletters.

Shasta County Arts Council is housed in the historic Old City Hall Arts Center.

Located in the vibrant Downtown Redding core, Old City Hall is the perfect place to hold theatre performances, concerts, events, and more.
