Art Classes offered at SCAC
Children’s Chorus
Tuesdays, 4-5pm
Give your child a place to sing, learn, and make music with others! Shasta Children’s Chorus is a free program for youth in 2nd–8th grade, with no audition required. Families can choose the rehearsal location that works best for their schedule, with weekly rehearsals offered at the MLK Center or Shasta County Arts Council’s Old City Hall.
Free to participate • No audition required • Grades 2–8

Cartooning
Mondays 4pm-6pm w/ Danny Lindberg
These weekly cartooning classes are perfect for young artists looking to build skills, get creative, and have fun along the way.
Learn to draw, design, and bring your ideas to life.
Each class includes: Character design, Drawing fundamentals, Creating environments, Color theory and lighting, Basic story development

All classes are Beginning Level. Intermediate patterns will be given to those students who have reached a comfortable level of proficiency & are ready for more. Please talk to the instructor.

Butterfly Origami
September 27
Join us for an afternoon where art meets conservation! Lepidopterist Jasmine C. Rogers will introduce participants to the Monarch butterfly, its migration patterns, native host plants, and ways we can support local conservation efforts. Then, multimedia artist Lauren Noël Otten will guide participants in creating their own origami Monarch butterflies.
The origami created during the workshop will also have the opportunity to become part of Return the Butterfly, an upcoming community art installation to be displayed in local art galleries.

Pottery Clay Club

A hands-on, creative space where kids can explore, create, and grow through clay.
Class One: Build unique pottery pieces using hand-building techniques
Class Two: Bring creations to life with colorful glazes
All materials included: clay, glazes, and kiln firings
