Welcome to
Shasta County Arts Council
-
The Shasta County Arts Council is a nonprofit arts organization based in the heart of Downtown Redding at historic Old City Hall. We serve as a creative hub for artists, performers, educators, and the community, bringing people together through a shared appreciation for the arts.
From gallery exhibitions and creative workshops to live performances and community events, we're a place where artistic ideas come to life. Whether you're a lifelong artist, just discovering a new hobby, or simply looking for something fun to experience, there's a place for you here.
-
Shasta County Arts Council was founded June 22, 1981.
We apply for national, regional and state grants, and as a partner with the California Arts Council, we receive a grant for operations to support our staff. We receive community sponsorships and donations, as well as a small percentage of fees from gallery sales. We rent out the space at Old City Hall, the home of the Arts Council. Our events generate ticket sales.

To make the arts part of everyday life in Shasta County.
The Shasta County Arts Council is dedicated to making the arts accessible, supported, and celebrated throughout our community. We provide the space, resources, and opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to create, learn, perform, connect, and experience the arts.

What Happens in our Building
-
We’re home to a growing variety of classes and workshops, from pottery and cartooning to drawing, dance, and more. Local artists and instructors use our spaces to share their skills with the community.
-
The arts are stronger when we work together.
We foster local coalitions and cohorts that bring creatives together around shared interests, ideas, and goals. Our growing creative community includes groups centered around theatre, dance, media and film, poetry and the written word, music, visual arts, and more.
These groups create opportunities to connect, collaborate, share resources, and strengthen the arts throughout Shasta County.
-
Our gallery hosts rotating exhibitions featuring local and regional artists throughout the year. We also offer opportunities for guest curators, Calls for Artists, student exhibitions, and partnerships with local schools and community organizations.
