Art Classes offered at SCAC
Summer Kids Art Classes
Taught by Susan Emerson
Children’s Summer Art Classes are back at the Shasta County Arts Council!
Join instructor Susan Emerson this summer for hands-on creativity, messy masterpieces, sculpture, painting, mixed media, and more at the Arts Council in Downtown Redding.
Classes run Tuesday–Friday in 4-day sessions throughout June, July, and August. Most classes are 9am–12pm, with select afternoon sessions available.
Summer 2026 Sessions Include:
• Exploration in Drawing, Painting & Sculpture (Ages 5–9)
• Ooey-Gooey Art (All Ages)
• Art for Everyday Life (Ages 7–14)
• Drawing & Painting (Ages 9–14)
• Kitchen Sink of Art (Ages 5–14)
• Color & Texture
• Robots, Birds & Insects
• Sculpture (Ages 7–14)
Classes are $125 per 4-day session or $40 daily drop-in.

Cartooning
Mondays 4pm-6pm w/ Danny Lindberg
These weekly cartooning classes are perfect for young artists looking to build skills, get creative, and have fun along the way.
Learn to draw, design, and bring your ideas to life.
Each class includes: Character design, Drawing fundamentals, Creating environments, Color theory and lighting, Basic story development

Ages 8+
Pottery Clay Club
Tuesdays & Wednesdays (times vary on which class)
A hands-on, creative space where kids can explore, create, and grow through clay.
Each month, your child will enjoy TWO 90-minute classes
Class One: Build unique pottery pieces using hand-building techniques
Class Two: Bring creations to life with colorful glazes
All materials included: clay, glazes, and kiln firings
Plus: Finished pieces to take home and treasure
