Art Classes offered at SCAC
Energetic Life Drawing
Thursdays 6pm-8pm w/ Brooke McGowen
Explore movement, expression, and the rhythm of the human figure in this new 18+ life drawing class taught by artist Brooke McGowen.
Using live models as inspiration, students will begin with loose, gestural marks before gradually honing in on the figure, capturing energy, emotion, and movement through their own unique style. This class encourages experimentation and self-expression over perfection, creating a welcoming environment for both beginners and experienced artists alike.
Here’s the class in Brooke’s words:
"Bring paper, charcoal, pencil, marker, even ink! We are going to find the rhythm and energy in the figure. Starting with loose, gestural marks we will hone in on the figure, grasping some essence as we follow our own rhythm. In this no-holds-barred class, the models serve as a jumping-off point for self-expression."
