The Importance of Being Ernest

  • Shasta College 500 Building (map)

This spring, Shasta College will present Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy The Importance of Being Earnest. This is a witty play about status and money, but most importantly, love! The Importance of Being Earnest is a decadent, razor-sharp send-up of rigid Victorian morality, which Wilde often subtitled as “a trivial comedy for serious people.” The Importance of Being Earnest is Wilde’s most beloved play and serves as a testament to the triumph of wit, beauty, and romance over the dry proprieties of the social order of the day.

Evening performances are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on March 8, 9, 14, 15, with two matinees at 2:00 p.m. on March 10 and 17. The Importance of Being Earnest will be directed by Carolyn Murray, with scenic design by David Fraser, lighting by Tim Dye, costumes by Hilary Fahey, and makeup and hair by Mat McDonald. Questions about ticketing and show times should be directed to the Shasta College Theatre Coordinator, Jessica Mann, jmann@shastacollege.edu or call the Shasta College Box Office at (530) 242-7573.
