Art 300 – art exhibition extended to September 21
Shasta County Arts Council and the Shasta College Foundation, the center for Arts, Communications, and Social Sciences present “ART 300”.
In 1968 Shasta College moved to its new campus on Old Oregon Trail in Redding, CA. Since that time the Shasta College Art Department has occupied building 300, now referred to as Art 300. With the addition of new faculty, the art department quickly became a center for visual arts in northern California. The program grew to include such art courses as painting, drawing, jewelry making, and the first hot glass program in the California Community College system. Over the years the art department, through its classes, gallery program, visiting artist lecture series and collections, has had an instrumental impact on its students, Shasta College faculty and the north-state community as a whole. Throughout the years many changes have happened in order to keep the class offerings current and viable. Changes in faculty naturally occurred when faculty members retired or moved on.
This exhibit gives the north-state community an opportunity to see the individual artwork of the current art faculty and paraprofessionals at Shasta College. The show will include works in painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, watercolor, ceramics, glass, and mixed media installation.
