Shasta Stitchers Showcase: The Shasta Stitchers Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc. will exhibit finished embroidery projects demonstrating various types of materials and techniques. Tickets for an opportunity drawing on an embroidered table cloth and 12 napkins (produced by Shasta Stitchers members) will be available. The table cloth will be on display. The drawing will be held in December 2011. There will also be a drawing held for several themed gift baskets Basket drawings will be held at 3:30 PM, October 22. Need not be present to win for either drawing. A range of gift items made by the members will be available for purchase. Complimentary refreshments will be served. The Hot Air Quarterly: The Hot Air Quarterly, the North State's Independent Literary Magazine, is accepting submissions in these areas: short fiction, memoir, narrative nonfiction, poetry, humor, and B&W line drawings.  All styles are welcome; our offerings range from serious to playful.  Payment is made in contributors' copies; authors retain all rights.  A limited hard copy print run is distributed, free, throughout northern California and beyond. Auditions for: The Masquerade Murders: Directed & Written by Bill & Lisa Collins Masquerade Ball in the Rio de Generic nightclub: La Mea Copa. A mysterious host has invited everyone to a private party and left a number of clues to be revealed at designated times. Maître is really the grandson of the scientist who invented a revolutionary greasepaint makeup.  The valuable formula was stolen by one or more of suspects at party.   Maître has arranged for them to be here in hopes of discovering who the guilty party is. Whiskeytown Adventures: Whiskeytown National Recreation Area invites photographers to submit current photographs of park visitors and staff experiencing one of Whiskeytown’s many adventures including mountain biking, horseback riding, sailing, motor boating, running, hiking, swimming, sunning, hunting, picnicking, snow shoeing, reading, painting, relaxing, sightseeing, working, camping, and playing. Small World, Small Work: The Small World, Small Works project gives artists everywhere an opportunity to show their work in multiple cities. Local to international artist may purchase a 12” by 12” canvas (by 1½” deep) and submit their painting to be displayed in all Small World exhibition cities.  Canvasses are $20 each for members, $25.00 each for non-members. Out of area and out of country artists may purchase canvasses with added $10.00 shipping and handling for first canvas and $4.00 for each additional canvas. Anyone who owns a car can get the Arts License Plate by ordering online from the Department of Motor Vehicles at www.dmv.ca.gov. Fees are $50 for a standard plate ($40 renewal) and $98 for a personalized plate ($78 renewal).
