Seed Bead Choker Class – Part 1

You will need to bring seed beads in your choice of color(s) and a clasp. I use Toho seed beads for the best results. Michaels has a small selection on the wall, or you can buy them online (please call the teacher for alternative suppliers).

Please bring two tubes of size 6 and one tube of size 11.

If you plan on taking Part 2 of the Seed Bead Choker Class, please call the instructor to talk about the beads. You should buy them all at once.

Mat, needle, jump rings and thread will be provided.

Rail Fence Quilt – Quilting with Karen

This is a great beginner’s quilt. Students will make a lap size quilt following a step by step process of cutting and sewing a quilt using accurate ¼” seams.

Sewing 101 with Jan Kearns – 4-week course

Monday, May 8 |  5:30 PM – 8:30 PM  |  Cost: $100 + materials  |  Click here to register

Students ages 12+ will learn how to sew and complete two projects during this four-week course. This beginner class will teach how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin and sew straight stitches, zigzag, backstitch, turns and curves.

The class will also cover sewing techniques and vocabulary including seam allowances, grain lines, pinning and pressing. Students will learn how to read and understand sewing instructions by sewing a pillowcase and market tote. Material list will be provided with class registration.

* Final class may be moved to May 30 due to Memorial Day holiday depending on class attendee preference.

Intermediate Sewing with Renee Gunlogson – 4-week course

Students will complete two projects during this four-week class. Skills include cutting out and following pattern directions, sewing, clipping and grading curves, making basic projects with binding, waistband, hemming and zipper. Karen will provide a brief history of quilting and will share her quilts. Participants will learn about quilting tools and their proper safety use.

Topics include:
 quilting fabrics, color, and contrasts
 quilt batting and threads
 various quilting techniques
 preparation for hand, machine or long arm quilting

This class provides preparation for beginning quilting to create a Rail Fence pattern quilt.

Kaleidoscope Quilt – Part I – Quilting with Karen

Thursday, June 8 |  5:30 PM – 8:30 PM  |  Cost: $40 + materials  |  Registration TBA

This is a 2-part class for Confident Beginner– Advanced Quilters. Students will work with triangles and repeats, learning the technique used to create this beautiful quilt. There are no “Y” seams in this pattern. The first class will teach the techniques in preparing the fabric to be cut. In the second class, the students will cut triangles and sew them together.

Students will finish their quilts at home. The results are awesome!

Level I Students will complete five projects during this four-day camp.  Level 1 beginning sewers will learn how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin and sew straight stitches, zigzag, backstitch, turns and curves.  The class will also cover sewing techniques and vocabulary including seam allowances, grain lines, pinning, and pressing.  Students will also learn how to read and understand sewing instructions.  Camp includes snacks and water. Level 2 is for students that have completed Level I Sewing or have similar experience.  Students will learn to cut out and follow pattern instructions by sewing their choice of pajama bottoms or a nightgown.  Students will also learn appliqué by making a stuffed owl pillow.  The materials list will be provided at class registration.
