Rachel Patteson is the new Americorps VISTA
volunteer at the Shasta County Arts Council. Rachel will be developing the Cultural Passport program for SCAC. She will also be working on a database for the information gathered through the artist needs assessment survey.
Rachel was born in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Northern California after her family moved here in 1980. She graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1995. Rachel studied art at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. She later went on to study ceramics under local artist Paul Rideout.
Rachel is also an avid landscape and nature photographer. In addition to ceramics and photography Rachel also crafts jewelry. She and her mother, Pat, are working on creating a line of jewelry made from recycled vintage jewelry. When not working on her art you can usually find her with her nose in a book or working on one of her many website projects.
After she is done with her year as a VISTA she plans on getting her massage therapy certification and working on finishing her art degree.
