2012 Annual High School Juried Art Competition
The 2012 Annual High School Juried Art Competition came into being in 1989 as an offering of the New Works Gallery, an artist co-op gallery located across the street from Old City Hall. The artists at the New Works felt it was important to give the high school students their own venue in a gallery setting. The Shasta County Arts Council took it over when the New Works disbanded. It continues today in the Old City Hall Gallery and is one of our most popular shows. Last year we had 777 entries from 14 high schools throughout the county.
The Arts Council will be receiving work on February 28th and 29th during the hours of 11am-5pm. Jurying will take place on March 2nd and 4th. We will be open for viewing on Friday, March 9th. and the opening reception will be on the 10th during Second Saturday Art Night. The awards presentation will be April 14th during April's Second Saturday Art Night at 7pm. We look forward to exhibiting the student work as we do every year.
